About Patanjali International Yoga Foundation (PIYF)
Patanjali International Yoga Foundation (PIYF) Rishikesh India – Registered Yoga School (RYS) 100, 200, 300, 500 was established in 2001 as Yoga Ashram & Retreat Centre Rishikesh – yoga health and training school, to hold activities and research on ancient yoga, following its deepest source – the noble sage Patanjali. Providing knowledge from the original textbooks of yoga, ayurveda and indian cultural scriptures.
The goal of PIYF is not only physical, but also mental and spiritual growth of its students.
Yoga is gaining in popularity, but at the same time it is losing its authenticity by being oversimplified to physical culture. Every instructor attempts to introduce something of his own, starting with changing names of asanas and ending with their wrong performance. There are a few followers of the original tradition, although, only those who got their knowledge from the universities in India are familiar with the real tradition. While training we all study ancient classic style of yoga the one which is described in Sanskrit sources and textbooks. It is only when they got the base teachers go out into the big world and found their own styles and schools, but the base is one. PIYF was established to deliver the most undistorted knowledge by giving it gradually and deliberately to someone who is ready to perceive.
Patanjali International Yoga Foundation Rishikesh India is a separate institute/organization and bears no resemblance to similar names /organization / institutes in what so manner.

Ancient Hathayoga – Patanjali Yoga
Ancient – Santana in Sanskrit means oldest, real – original form. As scripture says “Jiva bhuta sanatana” – The spirit is ancient. We mean the tradition followed by Shiva, Krishna, Patanjali and great rishis like Viswamitra, Kasyapa, Vasistha Marichi, Matsyendra, etc. Sage Patanjali has described about asana in his Yoga Sutra “sthira sukham asanam” – posture is steady and comfortable. In that steadiness, practitioner should have meditative awareness on mantra, chakra or on high consciousness. Ancient Yoga offers the balanced sequencing of asana, bandha, pranayama, mudra, mantra, meditation and relaxation as well as discussions and readings on the yogic lifestyle and yoga philosophy. This combine practice of yoga classes is intended to give students access to more of the diverse teachings and techniques that the yoga system has to offer. When we understand its holistic realty, yoga becomes even more beneficial and helpful for humanity in bringing harmony and balance to our lives.
Basic principle of the School “we follow to the original source” means Sanskrit text books like Yoga Sutra, Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Gheranda Samhita and Shiva Samhita etc.
During our trainings we follow the techniques, which are described in Sanskrit sources and textbooks. Following GURUKUL training system with the central point of constant deep connection of the Master and students. GURUKUL training system exists in India for millions years and implies studying with immersion, in other words, life in practice. In our training system practice and theory are inseparable. Our education easily can be called both academic and practical. Direct teaching and succession line, are the base of every spiritual and philosophic tradition and system of the East.
Aadi Yogi Lord SHIVA
Shiva is The Highest Auspicious Energy of the Universe. He is the eternal one who gave birth to himself, he has no begining or end. He knows all. He is pure consciousness, the creator of time, all-powerful, all-knowing. He is the Lord of the soul and of nature and of the three conditions of nature. From Him comes the transmigration of life and liberation, bondage in time and freedom in eternity. Shiva’s nature at once transcends and includes all the polarities of the living world.

Matsyendranatha, Macchindranath or Minanatha (c. early 10th century) is the greatest saint and yogi. He is traditionally considered as the founder of Hatha Yoga as well as the author of some of its earliest texts. He also founded natha sampradaya, having received the teachings from Lord Shiva. He is one of the eighty-four emortal mahasiddhas and considered the guru of Gorakshanath, another important figure in early Hatha Yoga.
