NAVARATRI literally “nine nights” also known as Navratri, is a nine nights (and ten days)
The festival is associated to the prominent battle that took place between Durga and demon Mahishasura and celebrates the victory of Good over Evil. These nine days are solely dedicated to Goddess Durga and her nine Avatars (reincarnation).
Each day is associated to an incarnation of the goddess: day 1- Shalaputri, Day 2- Bhrahmcharini, Day 3-Handraghanta, Day 4- Kusmanda, Day 5- Skandmata, Day 6- Katyayani, Day 7- Kallratri, Day 8- Mahagauri, Day 9- Shidhdatri.
